Outreach

Community eye camps that bring screening, counselling, and referral closer to the people who need them.

Overview

Community eye camps that bring screening, counselling, and referral closer to the people who need them.

Many people who need eye care cannot travel to the hospital. Outreach camps take screening, basic treatment, and specialist referral into communities, so sight-threatening disease is found earlier.

Each camp is staffed by our clinical team and arranged with local partners. Patients who need surgery or further tests are referred into the hospital with a clear next step.

The Treatment Process

1
Camp planned with a local partner and a published date
2
On-site vision screening and eye examination
3
Counselling and basic treatment where it can be given safely
4
Referral to the hospital for surgery or specialist care
5
Follow-up so referred patients are not lost after the camp

Benefits of Treatment

  • Care reaches people who cannot come to the hospital
  • Silent disease is found before sight is lost
  • A direct path from camp to specialist treatment
  • Clear counselling for patients and families
  • Work done with trusted community partners
  • Follow-up after the camp day
